5 tips to cure your holiday hangover + 2 natural remedies

Bounce back quickly from a hangover with these easy tips and natural remedies.

  1. Drink one glass of water for EVERY alcoholic drink
  2. Avoid high congener concentration drinks  (the darker the colour, the more fermentation by-products or “toxins” there are for your body to deal with (ie. red wine, whisky, bourbon, scotch, etc are all going to contribute to a stronger hangover).
  3. The morning after, indulge in a greasy spoon egg and bacon meal, but minimize the coffee and supplement 5 grams omega-3 essential fatty acids on top of the fatty meal
  4. Take a B complex with your meal!
  5. Do NOT reach for acetaminophen – studies show following a liver onslaught of alcohol it’s the worst thing to do by adding additional toxic stress. If you absolutely need over the counter support, reach for ibuprofen which won’t add that additional burden to your liver.

 

Garlic detox drink:

In 4 oz purified water, blend at high speed:

  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup of green leafy of choice or combo of kale, spinach, Swiss chard, collards, dandelion etc.

Directions: Pinch nose and drink.

 

Electrolyte recipe:

In 8oz of purified water, add:

  • 1 freshly squeezed lemon (for vit-c and powerful antioxidants)
  • 1 tbsp black strap molasses (for the potassium and micro nutrient profile)
  • 1 tsp of Himalayan salt (for the sodium and micro mineral content)

Directions: sip over one hour to help re-hydrate and replenish lost electrolytes.
