5 tools to get flat abs faster

A strong core is essential to a healthy lifestyle, it helps to create a firm base of support for virtually all movement. Laurie Jennings shares 5 tools for flat abs!

Flat abs are a dream for many women, but it’s important to remember that a strong core is essential to a healthy lifestyle. “We have no idea how important it actually is,” says health editor Laurie Jennings. It helps to create a firm base of support for virtually all movement. Think about it, you’re using your core muscles for everything, from reaching a shelf, to lifting a child, and even when sponging that pesky spot off the floor. Your core enhances your balance and stability, stabilizes the spine and reduces back pain. Are you convinced? Here are 5 tools to get flat abs faster:

1. Large exercise balls

If you replace your desk chair with a large exercise ball, you will be constantly engaging your core. Not only does this help you on your way to a flatter tummy, but it works to  improve your posture. It’s like getting a core workout for 8 hours a day!

2. Abdometer

The abdometer helps you get in the position to do a perfect crunch. This gadget will really help you target your core!

3. Ugi ball, Medicine Ball or Bosu Ball

This is the evolution of a medicine ball – the Ugi ball challenges you to use entire muscle groups at one time. You can even do something as simple as a game of toss to get muscle groups working together.

4. Bands

If you’re looking to avoid injuries, Laurie recommends using bands. Bands are useful because the amount of tension gradually increases throughout the movement, which means you’re less likely to injure yourself.

5. Kettlebells

Using a cast-iron kettlebell forces your stabilizer muscles to work harder. As a result, you’ll carve your core, sculpt your shoulders and back, and tone your butt and arms, as well as build power and boost endurance. As for its calorie-burning capability, the average kettlebell workout melts away 20 calories a minute, says a recent study from the American Council on Exercise.
