What You Need:

  • 2 Drum Shades, One larger than the other
  • Embellishments, Ribbon, Trim and Fringe
  • Faux Foliage
  • Glue Gun
  • Scissors
  • Memory or Fishing Wire
  • Light Kit

Instructions:

  1. Begin by gluing trim to the larger drum shade in horizontal rows. I like starting from the top and working my way down so that my rows are even and it also allows me to layer trim on top of trim.
  2. Then apply trim to the bottom half of the smaller drum shade since that is the only portion that will be visible.
  3. Glue foliage to the larger shade. To conceal the ends of the foliage where the glue was applied it is best to apply glue on the top inner portion of the shade and fold the foliage over so that it drapes on to the shade
  4. Glue foliage on the top outside rim of the smaller shade. We are fine to glue on the outside since the top of the smaller shade will be concealed under the larger shade once it is assembled.
  5. Assemble the light kit to the shade according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  6. Fix both shades together by threading fishing or memory wire through the central hole of both shades. Ensure that smaller shade hangs slightly lower than the bottom of the larger shade to create a tiered look. it is best to fix the shades together in three places by repeating this step so that the shade are secure and level.
