4 Boredom-Busting Rainy Day Games For All Ages

Bored in the house? Sarah Gunn's got you covered!

Families are spending more time together than ever and it can be challenging to find activities that are fun for everyone. Especially ones that don’t involve a screen or the outdoors. Sarah Gunn has ideas for a rainy day, using stuff you probably already have at home, that the whole family will love!

Flip Cup Tic Tac Toe

To play this, tape a tic tac toe grid on a flat surface such as a dining room table. Write ‘x’ or ‘o’ on the bottom of several plastic cups. Then, two players try flipping their cups and get to place their flipped cup on the board. The first one to get three Xs or Os in a row wins!

Ping Pong Trick Shot

For this game, you will need a plastic cup, ping pong ball, pots and pans, and lids or books. Step 1, set a plastic cup on the floor and try to bounce a ping pong ball into the cup. Then, add a pot or pan on an angle (you can use books or pot lids under them to create an angle) and try to bounce off that into the cup. Once you master each level, keep adding pots. BUT don’t move what you already set up!

Doodle Challenge

To play this game, one person faces a wall and places a piece of paper on the wall in front of them. The other person places a piece of paper on their back and draws a picture. As they are drawing, the other person tries to recreate it on the paper on the wall. You can even make it more like a broken telephone by adding more people!

 Balloon Power

To set this game up, take one long line of cups along the edge of a table. When the timer starts, blow up the balloon. Then, use the air from the balloon to blow each cup off the table. Keep blowing up the balloon and knocking the cups off as fast as you can and the person with the fastest time wins.
