Before I go, if I could make peace with one thing...

In her final question, Barbara Walters asked Oprah, “Before you leave this earth, if you could make peace with just one thing – what would it be?” Oprah’s response was quick and one that took me by surprise.

Recently I watched Barbara Walters interview Oprah Winfrey on her show premiering the most influential people in 2014. I must say – I was glued to the television set. Watching these two iconic females who are leaders in the world of media made me feel inspired and grateful for the doors they have opened for all women.

In her final question, Barbara Walters asked Oprah, “Before you leave this earth, if you could make peace with just one thing – what would it be?” Oprah’s response was quick and one that took me by surprise. After all the interviews she has done, the lives she has touched and the successes she has experienced, Oprah responded by saying, “It is the weight thing. My weight is still an issue for me and I would like to make peace with it.” Slightly shocked, Barbara Walters wondered with Oprah’s meteoric success, impactful life and joyous outlook – how could her weight still be bothering her? But the point is…it does, and she wants to make peace with it. I get that.

Let’s shift this!

Truthfully, it does not matter if you are Oprah Winfrey, a working mom, stay-at-home mom, single woman or a chronic yo-yo dieter — if you have weight to lose it drains your energy on many levels, physically and emotionally. I have worked in the weight loss world for long enough to see the impact fighting with your weight has on both men and women. I also know that even if you have struggled for years, you can change this – but we must enter into this journey thinking we are about to create a permanent shift.

Once you embark on the Cityline Weight Loss program, you will quickly discover my program is not one that you can jump off and on – this is a new way of eating — hormonally balanced, easy to follow and very balanced. That said, you will not be entering into deprivation mode. The program does allow you to fall off the health wagon from time to time and enjoy your favorite indulgence –wine, bread, pizza, etc. You can ask our very own Tracy Moore – the greatest chocolate lover I know!

Years ago, I knew I had to develop a program that was true to my core beliefs. By doing so, I created a system that could be incorporated easily into even the busiest of lives. Thus, when it comes to weight loss – I have two philosophies that I stand very firm by. They are:

1. Before joining any weight loss program, you must ask yourself the question: Can I see myself following a version of this program for 5 years or longer? If not…don’t do the program. Overly restrictive, unrealistic programs that promise rapid weight loss each week beat you up emotionally and can cause damage to your metabolism.

2. You must lose weight with dignity! The program is focused on real food and real results that puts the control back into your hands.

So, if your weight has been a “monkey on your back” for quite some time and is making you feel less like yourself – join me. Early January, we are going to be bringing healthy back and the more participants, the merrier. Once you understand the program (which will be posted at www.cityline.ca/weightlosschallenge), this system of eating will serve as a back pocket tool for life. Whether you have 5, 50 or more pounds to lose – let’s put one foot in front of the other and start making some positive and permanent change.

Looking forward to hearing from you in 2015!

Happy holidays,
Dr. Joey

I have been on Dr Shulmans program since the end of October and have lost 15 pounds and feel great. I have done other programs and I have been most successful on this program.

Thanks
