Nashville hot shrimp sandwich

Ingredients

1lb
sustainably sourced shrimp
1 cup
whole milk
2
eggs
1 tbsp
hot sauce
2 cups
flour
2 tsp
salt
1 cup
canola, to fry

Nashville Hot Sauce

1/2 cup
melted unsalted butter
1 tsp
cayenne powder
1/2 tsp
garlic powder
1 tbsp
brown sugar
Salt & pepper
1/2 tsp
paprika

Mayo

1/4 cup
mayo
Few dashes
hot sauce
1
fresh lemon, squeezed
4
brioche burger buns
Dill pickles, cut into coins

Instructions

  1. In one bowl, mix together the milk, eggs, and hot sauce. In another bowl, mix together the flour and salt.
  2. Heat up the oil in your deep fryer, or in a cast iron skillet to 325F.
  3. Dredge the shrimp in the flour, then dip in the milk/egg mixture, and back into the flour again. Shake off the excess flour.
  4. Fry shrimp in small batches and set aside on paper towel until needed.
  5. In a bowl add the melted butter, cayenne, garlic powder, brown sugar, salt, pepper, and paprika. In a separate bowl mix, mayo, hot sauce and lemon.
  6. Drop your shrimp into the sauce to coat fully, spoon on your spicy mayo and top with Nashville hot shrimp and sliced pickles, enjoy!
