The 4 Haircut Styles Making Waves This Season

[bc_video video_id="6273414820001" account_id="2226196965001" player_id="rkljM4WDEg"] New Season, New You I’m so excited for this upcoming fall season of haircut trends! And I know for a lot of you, it’s been a while since we’ve experimented with different haircuts, but now is a great time to push the agenda a little bit and try out one of these super trendy haircuts. Wolf Cut  The first haircut is inspired by a number of different celebrities right now, including Billie Eilish and Debby Ryan. Born in Korea and popularized by TikTok, the Wolf Cut is a mix between a shag and a mullet. The beauty of this style is that it is choppy and textured, but it can be short or long, and can even incorporate bangs depending on your taste. A big difference between the Wolf Cut and other haircuts is that it has layers, but also a strong foundation on the bottom. This keeps the cut looking heavy and strong at the bottom. It allows people that have fine-textured hair to wear a super-layered haircut and not feel like it’s too fine or thin at the bottom. Wavy/Curly Shag  The second haircut is a great option for our medium-to-thick, wavy-to-super curly clientele. Like the Wolf Cut, it has a bunch of layers and cool texture thrown, but because we would use this for thicker hair you would be ok to thin the bottom out a bit more which gives curlier hair a lighter feel. Notable celebs who rock this do include Sandrah Oh. The styling of the Wavy/Curly Shag is the best part. Allow those curls and texture to take on a life of their own and live where they want to live. Buzz Cut  Who knew the Buzz Cut would be making its way to the trending list? The Buzz Cut is a super bold look, that works for all hair types. To me, it says confidence; it's powerful and super fashion-forward. So many have taken up this style including Tiffany Haddish, Jada Pinkett, and Jordan Alexander. In the past, a buzz cut was considered a cry for help– think Britney Spears in 2007. Fast-forward to 2021, it signals hope and a new way to think about femininity. It’s a total style overhaul, so use the opportunity to experiment with your hair colour, try new makeup, and experiment with bold clothes. French Bob  This style is a beautiful, classic and timeless haircut, making it one of my all-time favourites. Bobs are always trendy, and this specific one is a jaw-grazing bob, which works with or without bangs. Our celebrity inspo for this look are Taylor LaShae and Jenn Im. In terms of styling this cut, think classic styling: blow-dryer and round brush. It doesn’t need to be overworked; the cut is done in a way to make your life easy when styling. It's also low maintenance, it looks great slicked back and wet, and if you let it air-dry, you get a perfectly messy look.

How To Prepare For Your Summer 2021 Hair Salon Visit

[bc_video video_id="6261403342001" account_id="2226196965001" player_id="rkljM4WDEg"] We’ve spent several months now perfecting out own styles, colours, and home cuts but summer’s here, and soon, salons are going to be ready to bring their clients back. It’s time to get inspired again, here's how to get your hair summer ready.
When you get back into the salon, I want talk about the single most important thing that needs to be done before your visit and that’s a consultation with your stylist or colourist. Now I’m sure your stylist will want to have one anyway but in case they are overwhelmed with how busy they are going to be, they won’t mind if you ask them to have a quick conversation about your plan going forward. Talk about the game plan. What should you focus on during the consultation? Go with:
  • your Wishlist, it may have changed during the pandemic
  • your face shape and what works best for it. (Rounder face with pronounce cheekbones go for a refreshing fringe!)
  • a colour plan because your needs may have changed, some colours require a lot of maintenance!
  • you texture and how you wish to wear it day to day
Recommendations for curly hair during the summer? First, we need to understand what kind of curly hair is? Are they spirals or loose waves? Is it afro-textured hair or not? Is it frizzy? With curly textured hair you want to make sure that keep it hydrated through the summer.  So, what that look like is if your used to using a gel or mousse in the winter months, perhaps your using leave in conditioners and hydrating creams in the summer. Hottest summer haircut? For hair trends this summer I think will see variations of the shag coming back, now I’m a big fan of these types of looks because of how versatile they are and easy to style. A layered looks also works on all textures of hair so anyone can try it, it's very maintainable. I also think the curtain bang is still sticking around, it’s such a nice option to keep hair off your face while framing it at the same time. Source: The Trend Spotter Colour Trends  I’m already seeing a lot of its the Bronde colour trend.  That is when you have a warm brown golden base with some natural highlights or balayage peeking through.  This look is great for summer months is because of how nicely it will fade through the warm months, it will grow out seamless without seeing very much roots growing in. A 4 Step Tutorial For A Classic 90's Blowout

[bc_video video_id="6257435647001" account_id="2226196965001" player_id="rkljM4WDEg"] Let’s play a game of guess the decade! Listen carefully to your clues: Chain wallets, bleached tips, combat boots, slip dresses, bucket hats…Have you figured it out yet? It’s the 90s of course! Believe it or not folks the 90’s is back in fashion in a big way. A 90’s blowout has volume and layers and movement in the way we haven’t seen for quite some time. Follow each step below to get the viral hair trend. Step 1: On damp hair add a light styling gel or mousse at the roots This will help to build the volume at the roots which is what will keep your hair full. Adding a little salt or texture spray to the mid lengths will give a little added grip or texture for an all-day hold. Click the image below if you want some natural beachy waves! Step 2: Rough dry style your hair with either a blow-dryer and round brush, or a hairdryer brush  This is a hairdryer brush. These have become increasingly popular again over the last few years and what’s great about them is that you aren’t sitting there pulling in one hand with a round brush and in the other hand holding the blow-dryer. Instead, it’s the idea of just pulling the hair with the brush itself as it dries. A hairdryer brush won’t give a professional finish to the hair, but in this case, we just need to dry the hair to be honest, because we we’re going to let the Velcro rollers do most of the heavy lifting. If you don’t have a hairdryer brush you can always go traditional using a round brush and blow-dryer. A metal brush will actually give more volume to a blow-dry so if you like a metal brush, now is the time to use it over a boar bristle brush. Be gentle when using a metal brush as they can sometimes tear the hair. Step 3:  Use Velcro rollers throughout the hair and set the hair  Time to pull out those Velcro rollers we haven’t seen in ages! Click the image below for a roller pack fit for all levels of curl! Jason’s Tip: Roll all of the rollers under the hair. The great thing about rollers is that if you roll the rollers under, the hair can flip out or the hair can flip under any which way you want once you take them out. if you flip them upwards, they’ll only flip out. Also the top roller should go off the face so that it can go any direction once taken out Next, once the hair has been set, spray a ‘thermal spray’ or a flexible hairspray all over the rollers and blast it with some heat of a blow-dryer. You just need a blast of heat for a few minutes. This will allow the cuticle to open up and take the shape of the rollers for when it sets. Step 4: Let the hair cool and brush out hair Let it all cool down for around 3-5 minutes and then take out the rollers. Here’s a great opportunity to brush the hair out with a big paddle brush which will also help to break up the lines between the rollers. Once you’ve finished brushing out the hair, you’ll already be super excited by the voluminous blowout, but something that is a new technique would be to spray texture spray through the inside root area which will give all day added volume. Position the hair the way you want and then finish with a finishing cream and hairspray for hold. Voila! You have the coolest 90s blowout, perfect for a walk down memory lane, or a first time go at it gen z style! For maximum hold, we recommend the product below!

3 Simple Silk Scarf Hairstyles

[bc_video video_id="6251100879001" account_id="2226196965001" player_id="rkljM4WDEg"] If you’re looking to experiment with your hair this season, a silk scarf just might be what you need to take your hairstyle from simple to stunning. For fashion and function, scarves are everywhere this season. We’re seeing a beautiful soft prettiness with them incorporated in to braids and ponies, as well as more retro 70's vibes. We've curated some easy silk scarf styles that you can try on yourself at home! Look 1: The Coachella Braid This pretty boho look screams "Coachella". To pull off this look, take a section of your hair on the crown and back comb it a little. Tie your scarf in a knot around it to secure it, leaving one tail longer. Split your hair into two sections around the scarf. Now you have the traditional 3 strands needed to create a braid. Braid normally until you almost reach the bottom, then tie off with another hair elastic. Now spread the braid out with your fingers. This look works really well as a side braid. Bonus Tip: Use a scarf when sleeping to keep your doo longer by wrapping your hair “up” in a scarf. It’ll be cradled in a “hammock” all night.  Look 2: Summer in St. Tropez To accomplish this one, take a long skinny scarf or fold a large scarf into long narrow band. Place it on your hair line or just behind it and add a couple of bobby pins behind each ear. Cross the pins for added hold. Now wrap the “tails” under the base of your ponytail and then bring them up and over and tie it off. Let the tails hang, or take your pony and turn it into a messy bun. You can wrap the tails around it or even cover it up completely.  Bonus Tip: Think about doing this look with a top knot as well. Just reverse the process. Start at the nape of you neck and wrap the scarf up to the top of your head and tie it off around your top knot.  Look 3: Easy Peasy Braid  For this last look, take your hair and pull it over to whichever side you prefer, then put it in a low ponytail. Aim for behind your ears and off your neck. Using a coil hair tie or a hair elastic secure it at the base. Now take your scarf and put it through the tie so it won’t fall out and leave a long and a short tail. Use the short tail to cover the elastic. You want the long tail about the length of or a little longer than your ponytail. Separate your pony into two sections and now you have the 3 sections, the scarf being the third needed for a classic braid. Don’t braid it too tight. Once you get to the ends tie it off with a hair elastic. Now stretch it out, pull it apart a little to get that really pretty boho look.  Which of these are your favourite look? Let us know in the comments!

3 Of The Hottest Spring 2021 Hair Trends

If you're looking for some spring hair inspiration, look no further! We're here to talk about some of the biggest trends, the styles and shapes, that you will be seeing on the streets and on your feeds this season. Trend 1: The Curtain Bang  This on is by far the hottest trend of the season! This look is a great way to frame your face without the commitment of a straight across bang. They're also great to help soften your look, while still highlighting certain features like eyes and cheek bones. The best part of this look is that there's no difficulty involved in growing them out, since they're cut in a way that allows them to grow seamlessly and transition into layers!   Trend 2: Curls Curls continue to be a big trend, and you can use your curler in different ways to achieve the effect you want. A curl with a loose, fun texture is great for someone who wants some curl, but not necessarily the extreme pop and volume of some curls. If you want a bit more pop in the curl, you can give a little twist at the top of the hair before wrapping the hair around the barrel of the iron. This technique works great for people who already have a bit of volume in their hair. Trend 3: The Mullet  Yes, we're serious, the mullet is a really hot trend for this spring-summer season. Before you rush to the salon though, here's what you should know. Mullets are great because they can be altered to work for any texture of hair. It can be an easy wash-and-wear look, which can be really wonderful for keeping your summer laid back. This is for the more bold among us, as an edgy and fashion forward statement haircut.
