Colour Your Outdoors

There's no reason why the outside of your home can't be as vibrant and colourful as your indoor space.

There’s no reason why the outside of your home can’t be as vibrant and colourful as your indoor space.

If you have a balcony, and there’s not a lot of square footage to work with, Sharon Grech recommends using deck tiles to add some visual interest. You can buy them at most home renovation stores and stain them to a shade you like.

"You can treat them any which way," Sharon says. Perhaps take a cue from your patio furniture, and paint the tiles in complementary tones.

Arranging the tiles in a pattern — for instance, white framed by black as you see in the above photo — is a creative option but you can easily go with all one shade.

If your fence has seen better days and you’d like to freshen it up with colour, use a solid stain rather than paint, Sharon advises. Solid stains can be tinted to just about any colour.

You can even create inexpensive art for the outdoors by using exterior paint and drawing on a canvas.
