Brian Gluckstein's top design trends for fall

With lush fall clothes already arriving in stores, we wanted to know what decor trends are going to be big as the temperature drops.

Fashion has traditionally been an indicator of the next big thing in decor, so with lush and cozy fall clothes already arriving in stores, we wanted to know what home design trends are going to be big as the weather starts to cool down.

Designer Brian Gluckstein spoke with Citytv digital correspondent Graeme O’Neil about what we’re going to be seeing this fall as far as decor is concerned.

“We’re seeing a big trend to northern European materials,” he explains. “A lot of bleached woods, like grey bleached woods, for home accents such as candlesticks, tables and flooring.”

Faux fur is also on trend, in pillows and throws.

Rich jewel tones are still hot in both fashion and home decor, and as Gluckstein explains all you need to do to embrace this trend is buy a few accent items.

“It’s easy to do,” he notes. “Putting some pillows, accents on the coffee table, and a big throw over the sofa, that’ll change the room.”
