Friday Reads: Stories I Only Tell My Friends, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, and more!

Join in on our weekly feature and find out what Cityline staff members, guest experts and viewers are reading!

Here at Cityline.ca, we love talking about books and what we’re reading and loving right now. In our weekly feature, Friday Reads, we give you a behind-the-scenes look at what Cityline guest experts and staff members are reading, as well as sharing the current picks of some of our viewers. This week, we’re taking a peek at the bookshelves of Tracy Moore, Carolyn Graham, and some of our viewers!

Tracy Moore, our host, is reading Stories I Only Tell My Friends by Rob Lowe (Henry Holt & Co.), ahead of an exclusive interview she’s doing next week with the actor. “I was blown away. Not only was the book well-written…every, single word

was written by Lowe himself,” says Tracy. “Equal parts Hollywood behind-the-scenes

gossip and deep, introspection – this is how every Hollywood memoir should

be composed.”

Carolyn Graham, Cityline‘s health & family producer and director, is reading The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers (Mariner Books). This book-turned-film is the story of a group of diverse misfits and the human experience. “The book reminded me of John Steinbeck and Harper Lee,” says Carolyn. “I cannot believe that she wrote this book when she was just 23 years old. I have heard that the character of Mick is loosely based on her life growing up. It is a lovely and sad book.”

Our viewers have also been sharing their current reads with us on Twitter! Here’s some of the #fridayreads tweets we’ve received – share your picks with us by including @CitylineCA and #fridayreads in your tweet!

@jackstrawlane: Ordered the Pablo Neruda Memoirs. Don’t usually read those, but want to know about him.

@thismomloves: Reading “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn and it’s riveting!
