Custom placemat or pillow cover

Tools:

Fabric
Painters’ tape
Letter stencils
Craft paint
Small stenciling brush

Method:

This method words for any fabric. Begin by making placemats (or pillow covers, etc.). For this project, cut wool felt into 12×20 rectangles. Line if desired.

Use painters’ tape to tape out straight lines at the bottom of the letters.

Use letter stencils, craft paint and a small stenciling brush to apply letters one by one. Follow the line of the tape to make sure letters are straight.

Heat, set, and scotch guard if desired.

Numbered hurricanes

Tools:

Adhesive letters or numbers (either re-positionable or permanent)
Painters’ tape
Pillar candles
Vases

Method:

For this project, you can either use re-position able adhesive letters (if you want to be able to remove the letters/numbers) or permanent ones.

Use painters’ tape to find the bottom of the letter/numbers. Apply letters or numbers to the vases, making sure bottom is straight to the tape line. Place candles inside the vases.

Pages of old/favourite book
Modge podge
Stretched canvas
Adhesive letters
Paint (optional)

Method:

Create custom art out of a favourite book, or vintage-looking book. Paint modge podge onto a ready-made stretched canvas, apply page, then re-apply a second coat of modge podge over top. Work in small sections. Once the entire canvas is covered, apply letters to spell words of your choice.

You can add decorations with stripes of gold leaf, solid paint, contrasting images, etc. Apply a final coat of modge podge.
