4 simple steps for effective weight loss

Dr. Joey Shulman shares a few simple steps to get you ready for shorts and bathing suit season.

With summer speeding our way, it’s time to kick those comfort food habits to the curb and crank up our weight loss efforts. Whether you’re starting your weight loss journey or nearing the end, Dr. Joey Shulman shares 4 simple steps to get you ready for shorts and bathing suit season.

1. Cut out gluten. Dr. Joey says to cut out gluten for a month and give gluten-free grain options a try, quinoa or brown rice are two great options. She also suggests avoiding all grains in the evening to maximize results.

2. Drink 2 litres of water a day. “There is no way around this one!” says Dr. Joey. If you don’t like drinking water, she suggests giving yourself a visual reminder by putting a dot on your hand and drinking water every time you see the dot. If you find water boring, why not give her Weight Loss Water a try?

3. Fill-me-up foods. Dr. Joey recommends having lots of healthy “fill-me-up foods” available in your home to avoid making poor choices. Great fill-me-up options to have on hand are hard boiled eggs, almonds, mini yogurts or 1 tbsp of natural peanut or almond butter.

4. Snack wisely. We’re all busy and that makes healthy snacking more difficult.  Be sure to have healthy snacks available so you can grab-and-go! Dr. Joey reminds us that it doesn’t have to be gourmet, give grapefruit, fresh berries, applesauce, gluten free crackers and low sodium dips a try.
