Boots, flats & pumps: 4 must-have shoe styles for fall

Loulou's Liv Judd wants to keep your feet looking stylish for fall with the hottest trends of the season.

It’s almost time to put away those flats and peep-toe shoes, but that doesn’t mean you have to put your style away on the back shelf, too! Loulou‘s Liv Judd wants to keep your feet looking stylish for fall with the hottest trends of the season.

  • Chelsea boots: These are your everyday walking shoe, inspired by the 1960s. They are the one style of boots that Liv says no closet is complete without. You can wear these shoes with denim, whether they’re stacked or stiletto heels. Here’s a tip if you’re looking to buy this style: look for boots with elastic sides to make this pair easy to slip on at the door. Also try something different like a lug sole (a.k.a. the tractor soles), or go edgy with zipper detailing. For that chic look, hunt down the pair with a pointed toe.
  • Slip-on sports flats: Your fashion doesn’t have to suffer at the expense of your weekend. This type of shoe is quite fashionable, sensible and set for that weekend of fun. It’s a take on the glam versus gym style, so look for something that has texture, prints, a colourful woven finish or a rough pony hair look. Skip out on the black to keep this shoe vibrant, and look for a pointed toe for an “elegant” take. But don’t mistake the name! These shoes are not for the treadmill, though you can wear them with your denim.
  • Classic pumps: Whether they’re stiletto pumps or a stacked heel, this is a style that will never go out of fashion. For the perfect evening out in the middle of fall, pass on the boring black and look for a theatrical twist in bright hues and dramatic textures. We love wild hues like bright blue, and textured finishes like jewels or short pony hair.
  • Over-the-knee boots: Totally glamourous and trendy — and they’re losing their Pretty Woman rep, too. These are what Liv calls the most “of the moment” boot. There are boots of all heights, depending on the length of your leg, to make it a little more classy. Feel free to grab a stacked heel to elevate you in height, while the elastic backs can help you fit your legs in easier.
