Broiled miso fish

If you don't have a tub of miso in your fridge -- think again! Claire Tansey shows us why this delicious Japanese staple has a place in your kitchen.

  • Line a baking sheet with foil. Stir miso with maple syrup, mirin and canola. Place fish on prepared sheet and brush miso mixture over top and sides of fish. Let stand at room temperature 15 to 20 min.
  • Preheat broiler and position oven rack no more than 8 inches away from broiler element. Broil fish 3 to 5 min or until miso is deeply golden and bubbling. Remove from oven and let stand 3 to 5 min (it will continue to cook). Sprinkle with sesame seeds and dill. Serve with rice and steamed greens if desired.
