Guyanese Pepperpot With Homemade Plait Bread

My favourite holiday dish!


  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot on medium heat and add meat. Once golden brown, add onion, cinnamon, thyme, cloves, brown sugar, orange peel and salt. Sautee for several minutes while stirring
  2. Add hot water and cassareep and stir to incorporate. Add wiri wiri peppers. Bring to a gentle boil and reduce to a simmer.
  3. Cook for 3-4 hours, until meat, is tender.
  4. Remove from heat, serve with Plait Bread and enjoy.
