Fried brie and pear cheese board

An appetizer that's salty and sweet!

I feel like this recipe is very sophisticated but it’s also fun, and that’s what you want when you’re having a get-together!

INGREDIENTS

METHOD

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, water, and 1/4 tsp salt. In another medium bowl, whisk together flour and remaining salt. Pour panko into a third medium bowl.
  2. Bread brie wedges by first dipping into flour, then into egg mixture, then into panko, pressing to coat. Repeat with egg and panko once more for a double coating. Arrange pieces onto a sheet pan. Freeze for 1 hour.
  3. In a heavy bottom pot or skillet, heat 1 inch of canola oil to 350F (176C). In batches, fry brie wedges, flipping occasionally until golden brown. Move to paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  4. Serve immediately on a wooden board or platter with pear, honey, cardamom, nutmeg, and baguette.
